My Experience at Nordstrom Beauty Event, Makeover, Nordstrom Gift with Purchase, and My Estee Lauder Spring Gift with Purchase

Did you know that Nordstrom has an in-store beauty event and beauty gift with purchase? What’s so special?

1. Nordstrom is hiring makeup artists to give customers makeovers not from a salesperson.

2. There is an in-store tote and free gift bag from Nordstrom if you purchase $125 from any beauty brand. Below is my roller coaster experience. Also, gift with purchase and my thoughts at Estee Lauder counter @ Nordstrom Spring Beauty Trend Week 2017.

I was at another counter and I wanted to buy their foundation. But the whole asking thing was happening stone cold without eye contacts or even look at me. She was really busy cleaning her brushes. She may be hungry, bad day, I’m not looking like a target age to wear her brand or … her brushes are seriously dirty. I am not seeing a bright future at this counter. No one will ruin my day with their dirty brushes so I moved on.

I popped up at Estee Lauder with their Double Wear Stay-in-Place Liquid Makeup goal. I’ve never bought this holy grail, full coverage foundation for millions of women. I was greeted nice and warm. There were like 5 people that gave me their full attention right away, that felt good.

The makeup artist that was helping me was hired by Estee Lauder and was trained to use their products. She was very knowledgeable and taught me so many awesome custom makeup tips. I usually take this kind event to purchase a new foundation, primer or concealer. Things that need to match perfectly.

I was asked what I’m looking for, what style and whether I am going to pick their new theme Team Glow or Team Matte? I’m team glow. The Estee Lauder makeup artist started from skincare and then started using the tool to find the matching foundation shade. She did a great job. My face was transformed to a gorgeous full coverage canvas as I desired. It was going on until…

She called her colleague to see my makeup (told me that he was a great supervisor). She explained to him what I’m looking for and what she did. He looked … and then he said.

Would you mind if we start over?

Estee Lauder standard is high! LOL!! Please don’t get her wrong I was really pleased with her service. Think about it, we know how to cook. But if we have to cook in someone’s house, that’s tough. I don’t know what’s going on but if they want to spend extra 45 minutes to put makeup on me, go on!

He explained to her what’s going on with the trick she trying and also explained to me about Estee Lauder Double wear Foundation. This is a good tip and I’d like to share. He said that Double Wear is appropriate if you need full coverage and your skin is not dry. Because it is so matte. He said I don’t need full coverage and he would recommend medium coverage to full coverage like Estee Lauder Perfectionist Youth-Infusing Makeup Broad Spectrum SPF 25. I’m open to try it, and I really like the result. He really is a Yoda of an Estee Lauder makeup artist. The other makeup artist came to join, sort of listen to his tutorial and it was on my face. He asked what I want to do with my eyes and he picked and I adore it. It was the look that I always wanted but never came across any youtube tutorial or any makeup artist who could create it. He then left to help out other people.

My lesson or makeover continued and I was really happy with the results. The Estee Lauder Bronze Goddess Illuminating Powder Gelée was sold out at this counter but she put it on, it is so sun-kissed pretty.

I ended up purchasing the Estee Lauder Micro Essence Skin Activating Treatment Lotion (trial size $10 here) as I have wanted to add essence to my regimen for a while and a few items. Here’s the ingredient list:

I asked for the Estee Lauder Advance Night Repair Intensive Recovery Ampoules sample. It is $110 a bottle, and I really need to sample it the ingredients are great. She gave me that and a couple of Estee Lauder samples in the little containers.

That was my experience. I was lucky, had fun learned new things and splurged. I could have just made a $150 purchase to get the gift but I felt like I could help out and show them how happy I was.

How was your experience at Nordstrom beauty event or other department stores or Sephora makeover service? Do you like it, any tips to share?

My tip would be go early or have an appointment ahead. In case of Nordstrom, the event happens on different dates and I found the pamphlet at my local store for the event calendar. Try to pick a day that they will hire makeup artists. If you plan to get the Spa service, it was good too. They gave a nice mask and massage your hands while you wait, then they send you to other brands to get makeup done. They are all over the moon to make you happy.
