According to Business Insider, “Sephora is closing locations across the US on the morning of June 5. The makeup retailer is holding inclusion workshops for employees to build a “more inclusive beauty community.” The training comes after the musician SZA tweeted that a Sephora employee called security on her while she was shopping at a store in Calabasas, California.” I’ll list top new summer palettes at Sephora + Sephora promo codes round-up!

Hey Katie, Thanks for sharing the top 10 Sephora palettes! The Huda Beauty Neon Obsessions caught my eye.
BTW, I have a kind of random question. I’m a little confused about face oils and am hoping you can help 🙂
I’ve heard different recommendations on when to apply face oil. For example, some say you apply it after cleansing but before your serum and moisturizer. Others say to use it as the last step by adding a few drops of oil to your moisturizer. Still others have said the face oil takes the place of a serum in your skincare routine. So my question is, when should you apply a face oil? Does it depend on the kind of oil, skin type, or preference?
Some people say face oils may impede the absorption of serums or other treatments while I’ve heard others say that a good face oil can improve the absorption of other skincare products. What is your opinion, Katie?
Finally, what are your recommended uses of face oils and what are some of your all-time favorites?
I’d love to hear your input whenever you get a chance!

Hi Liza, I’m glad you like the palette round up!
Would you mind telling me what is your skin type and concerns? When and how to apply depending on those, I think. I’ll research and make a post for you 🙂
I have combination skin and also acne prone. I can only use lightweight oil. I normally store them away from light like In the drawers. I also look out for citrus oil and lavender those are not preferred. Also avoid mix it with some SPF. I’m sorry that my reviews are everywhere. I should put them in the categories now.
Thank you for stopping by and give me some ideas, Liza!

Hi! Couldn’t help but see your question!
What we call “face oils” are really “oil based serums.” There are also water based serums!
The order that you apply products after Cleansing and exfoliating is related to their molecular size. So facial oils have a slightly larger size than water based serums, essences, and toners, but are smaller than creams and lotion. The larger molecular size blocks the absorption of the smaller particles so that’s why the order matters!
You can also mix it with your moisturizer and apply them at the same time if you want, but I think they work better when you apply them before.
Make sure you also leave time between steps for the products to fully absorb, or else they may not be as effective (vitamin c or retinol) or they may cause pilling especially when you try to apply makeup 🙂 hope this helps!

Thanks for getting back with me, Katie! My skin tends to be dry and I live in an arid climate. My main skin concerns are preventing fine lines / wrinkles 🙂

Sephora and other SJW stores only take things extremely seriously when it involves someone stopped by security . They’re so serious that they’re going so far as to close ALL stores nationwide for emergency “inclusivity” training like Starbucks did.
What about all the times I’ve been seen as subhuman, assumed to not be a shopper, though I’m a VIB and know tons about makeup, assumed to be cheap though I shop high-end enough, and assumed to be the most lowly, creepy person on earth? I’m definitely profiled and stigmatized at Sephora every single time I go in there.
I’m alway ignored there, while they greet and say a farewell to everyone else. I’m always spoken to condescendingly – though I’m passionate about all the brands they sell and all the newest things coming out. I’m always in their brands of makeup and dressed my best when I go into a Sephora. Yet none of that matters – I’m just adamantly seen as a backwards, poor, dowdy creep who know nothing about the trend beauty products Sephora sells – when I know much more than anyone else.
I’ve brought it all up to their stores and corporate office many times – but they don’t care, and have never done anything about it.
They’re very discriminatory in many ways. I’m calling for a boycott of Sephora, in stores and online!

People should be very grateful if they can walk into any store and be seen/treated as human, with a typical amount of respect shown toward humans – instead of automatically seen as below human, cheap, and knowing nothing about makeup – though I know much more than the dumb employees there.
I have tons and tons of beauty products at all price ranges, including many brands that Sephora sells. I’m extremely familiar with and passionate about all beauty trends, innovation, branding, etc. I’m extremely familiar with the latest and greatest of makeup application, etc.
Again, I go into Sephora stores only wearing their brands of makeup, and in my most stylish clothes from places like Madewell and Nordstrom. Still, all they see is my face, and I’m automatically seen as poor, cheap, disgusting, and knowing 0% about fashion/beauty – when I’m millions of times more informed and passionate they they are.
I’ve gone to Sephora’s classes in various stores, where I was ignored and assumed to know nothing, and got condescending comments – when I knew much more than the customers there who were assumed to know, when they didn’t.
There’s tons of subconscious bias against people just based on a few superficial factors. Please do not shop at Sephora – their treatment of me over time has been horrific – though I’m a VIB.

Hey, Kat! I just saw your answer to my question about face oils! Thanks so much for going in-depth! You clarified many things for me. I appreciate your explaining that face oils are essentially oil-based serums and that the order of application depends on molecular size. I learned something new. I needed the reminder about waiting between steps to allow products to absorb. Your comments really helped me and made it easy to understand. Thanks again!
