Review: I love my August 2017 Sephora Play Beauty Box!

Let’s chat and witness my luxurious August 2017 Sephora Play Beauty Box. Everyone, I’ve got the Hourglass foundation stick that is all the rage these days. I’ve been very happy with the Play! by Sephora subscription box recently (after the horrific April box). This post is for the Sephora Play August box number 130.

Hourglass Vanish Seamless Finish Foundation Stick in Shell | Full size $46

IcanGWP Review: Anything “Hourglass” gets my attention. I’m impressed by the quality and efficacy of Hourglass products: Ambient light primer (reviewed here), Full Spectrum Mascara, Primer, Femme Rouge Velvet Crème Lipstick (reviewed here) and Strobe Lighting Powder (reviewed here). The lightest buttery texture is so unique. It gives a satin airbrushed finish that looks so gorgeous. This foundation stick makes my prep so wonderful again and you may find it wonderful too. One tip from me: don’t overdo it.

Introducing My Burberry Black. A new fragrance joining the My Burberry collection, it follows the same codes of craftsmanship, innovation and appreciation of the iconic Heritage Trench Coat.

IcanGWP Review: Now smell this Burberry scent for women. I’m pretty excited about the combo of jasmine, candied roses and peach nectar.  Here’s a very good explanation from the creator Francis Kurkdjian: “an intense and sensual reinterpretation…a London garden amidst a gathering storm; heavy rain contrasting with the warm and captivating flora”.

It’s fuller, darker and sexier than the original. I’d use it for an evening wear. It starts with the very warm, feather light, and welcoming flora-amber scent. Then the dry down is caramel musky and peachy – almost like a complex dessert liquor with rose and patchouli in and out. This perfume is very long-lasting. If you like a scent that is not overly feminine and warms beautifully on the skin, give it a try!!

Korres Golden Krocus Ageless Saffron Elixir Serum Review | Full size $98 – Sephora Exclusive

A precious golden elixir infused with the immense antioxidant power of one-day fresh Greek saffron to universally correct all visible signs of aging.

IcanGWP Review: This unicorn-glow elixir is so pretty! I’m so excited to try this luxurious serum. The gold solution smells so wonderful. Think Greek saffron – so calm, Mediterranean and different. Something you want to keep putting on. It glides on effortlessly and absorbs like a miracle. My skin feels fantastic. It’s a little bit brightened and glowing, something summery and I like that.

The ingredients are excellent. According to Korres “It takes 70,000 krocus flowers—which bloom only once per year for two weeks—to produce just one pound of Greek saffron.”. I’m impressed by this fact. It’s pity that my face feels dry at the end of the day from the alcohol content. I’d consider purchasing the full size alcohol free version – just so that I can sniff and relax.

Beautyblender micro.mini Makeup Sponge Applicator | Full size $18

IcanGWP Review: BeautyBlender is so very popular because the secret hydrophilic foam material. The standard makeup sponges repel water. This material draws in water and allows a little bit of makeup to penetrate the top layer of the sponge for a cushion effect. Thus, it will work better when it is damp. I have tested and it works like original BeautyBlender and is easier to reach the area where the big one usually missed, like the under eye area. It is easier to clean and dry too.

Clinique Dual-Ended High Impact Mascara & Primer Duo

Clinique High Impact Mascara in Black  | Full-size is $16.50

What it is: A mascara that effortlessly adds volume and length to your lashes. Who it’s for: Anyone who wants stand-out lashes. What it does: It kicks up your lashes, coating them in pure, deep color that only adds to the impact.

IcanGWP: The average review is 4.7! The bristle is very slim and firmer than other mascaras. It separates and extends each eyelash well and does not produce any clumps. To get  very beautiful, thick, curled and lengthened lashes, you will need two to three coats or some mascara base to prime it. And make sure to wait so that it is completely dry. It is not waterproof and can be removed with a washcloth and cold water. Contact lens wearers really love it because it doesn’t irritate their eyes. Sensitive eye users also love that it is easy and doesn’t burn their eyes. They also offer 3 more types of Clinique High Impact Mascaras including the waterproof one.

This is a fun beauty box for summer! Six items I received: foundation, gold serum, mascara hair spray, warm scent perfume and makeup applicator. All of them are deluxe or travel size, good value! Sephora sends this out for $10 a month, I love my box.
