SkinStore Evergreen Holiday Limited Edition Box Review
First of all, the beautiful green drawers. It’s a nice sturdy medium size box. You can lift the top open and store your beauty products inside. There is a slim drawer in the bottom. I love that it’s reusable. The logo is not big and we can reuse this container later on.
A little booklet to explain our goodies.
Now let’s see each item in this beauty box from SkinStore!
The Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 Hydration Support Formula Review | Full size $6.80
Simplicity during this time of the year is key, and that’s why we love The Ordinary’s Hyaluronic Acid. Able to hold 1000x its weight in water, dry skin is nonexistent this winter with this high impact product.
Ingredients: Aqua (Water), Sodium Hyaluronate, Sodium Hyaluronate Crosspolymer, Panthenol, Ahnfeltia Concinna Extract, Glycerin, Pentylene Glycol, Propanediol, Polyacrylate Crosspolymer-6, Ppg-26-Buteth-26, Peg-40 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Trisodium Ethylenediamine Disuccinate, Citric Acid, Ethoxydiglycol, Caprylyl Glycol, Hexylene Glycol, Ethylhexylglycerin, Phenoxyethanol, Chlorphenesin.
IcanGWP Review: This year 2019 I have two items entered my skincare hall of fame and they are BioEffect EGF Serum and Augustinus Bader The Rich Cream. Here comes the third one and it’s surprisingly super affordable – The Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid – my hall of fame 2019! This bottle is filled with 2% hyaluronic acid which is the highest possible we can take. It’s so very concentrated as you can see from the second and third ingredients. The form they pick is very easy to absorb compared to other derivations. It’s oil-free, fragrance-free, silicone-free, alcohol-free, gluten-free and vegan.
The Ordinary instructs to apply a few drops to face in the morning and evening before cream. The clear fluid treatment has no scent and penetrates through the skin extremely well. I used 6 drops the first time and experienced mild heat so I reduced it to half of that for the entire face. Within 3 days, I was really shocked to see the PLUMP. Holy PLUMPING skin like I put Augustinus Bader or Bioeffect skincare on and not a $6.80 treatment! I have tried a bunch of The Ordinary products and never repurchased anything. This is the first product from them that I did (already)! Wayne Goss loves this goodie so much and I also highly recommend this product. Just make sure you start from a few drops and build it up to the point that it suits your skin. I have continuously used it almost every day and night. I can notice a visible reduction in fine lines or even deeper wrinkles. I have 11 lines but only on the left eye (don’t know why) and it’s gradually filled to almost disappear now. My 30-ish skin really likes it.
Aesop Geranium Leaf Body Balm (120mL) | Full size $97
Perfect for all skin types, this blend of geranium leaf and citrus is a post-shower treat for the senses while providing essential full body moisture.
IcanGWP Review: I’m so happy to try a new brand from Australia like Aesop. The tube is pretty and feels awesome. The balm has a beautiful lavender-citrus aroma. It is recommended to apply daily to warm wet skin after showering. This apothecary product contains shea butter, coconut oil, aloe vera juice, and macadamia nut oil. It’s so relaxing at night and helps lull me to sleep. The texture is intense, thick and rich. It will require a good rub to spread it. My skin is quenched and hydrated.
Caudalie Instant Foaming Cleanser in Full size $28
This 99% natural, soap-free liquid cleanser turns into a generous, airy foam for gentle, effective cleansing. A natural blend of Grape Extracts, Sage and Chamomile effectively cleanses and removes makeup and impurities while soothing skin. The improved formula is now more natural, more effective and gentler on the skin.
IcanGWP Review: A french brand, Caudalie, is known for their exceptional patented age-defying technology. If you believe in a soap-free bubble foam cleansing approach, this is one item that should be on your radar. I like bubble face wash because I try to avoid rubbing my face as much as I can. Caudalie’s Foaming Cleanser is ideal for sensitive, dry and combination skin types. I really like using it first thing in the morning. The fresh fruity scent is so invigorative. It’s grape mixed with cucumber. DO NOT SHAKE BEFORE USING. The bottle has a sturdy pump. One pump releases a quarter size lather ball that has all the weightlessness of a delicate bubble foam. I love that I don’t have to whip it myself. This gentle yet effective formula doesn’t leave my dry skin feeling tight. If you have trouble getting leftover facial wash on your hairline, this is a nice formula for you. The ingredients are helpful for battling enlarged pores.
Wander Mile High Club Mascara in Full size $26
In just one coat, this jet black volumizing and lengthening mascara with precise bristles grabs every lash for a full and flirty effect. Formulated with a blend of nourishing and conditioning lash-loving ingredients.
IcanGWP Review: I haven’t tried a lot of Wander Beauty products so I am pretty excited to try their best-selling mascara. The wand is slim and the bristles are narrow. The formula is neither wet or dry and is a little bit clumping at the tip a bit. I like to apply it without wiggling. Lashes are sort of glued to each other when I did. It creates beautiful longggg doll lashes that look very natural. When I applied a second coat, it’s more dramatic and really added *oomph* to the lashes. It’s doesn’t have any fall off the entire day and was easy to remove. One caveat is that it’s very slow drying.
Elemis Pro-Collagen Marine Cream (Travel) | Full size $128
Skip the appointments with this anti-wrinkle day cream that gives long-lasting results and reverses aging with collagen support.
IcanGWP Review: I’m thrilled to try out new Elemis skincare. This British-based company provides medical and luxury spas all over the world with their products. This lightweight day time cream sinks in and absorbs effortlessly. Its spring powderly floral scent is soothing but can be overpowering if you are not into it. The “marine” part is from Padina Pavonica extract that is found in luxury skincare like Elemis, Darphin or Sisley Paris. I’m interested because they claim that it contributes to increased Glycosaminoglycans that will function as a skin-replenishing ingredient (similar group as the famous hyaluronic acid). I want to see effectiveness of this algae extract on my skin texture! This product doesn’t contain tons of silicone, dry skin users may feel that it’s not moisturizing enough. I like that there’s some true lightweight cream alternative in the up-scale market.
Rodial Pink Diamond Lifting Face Mask (individual)| Full size $90 for 8 masks
Diamonds are a girl’s best friend, and Rodial is the peak of luxury. So this sheet mask is the perfect gift for a personal day! Infused with pink grapefruit, diamond powder and skin-tightening peptides, this mask works to instantly lift, tighten and brighten skin.
IcanGWP Review: Here’s the new mask from the most exclusive Pink Diamond range from Rodial. The biocellulose mask has real diamond powder in the ingredient list. According to Rodial, “diamond powder leaves the complexion radiant and wrinkle smooths away. High-tech complexes correct pigmentation and regulate melanin productions from the deepest layers. Skin is visibly firmer and tighter with an even skin tone.” The thin pink mask has floral scent serum on it. It fits well. I watched an episode of Portlandia (after a fun trip to Portland!) before I removed it. The skin looks glowy (may be from the physical diamond powder particles). This is the second most expensive mask from Rodial only after Bee Venom Micro-Sting mask. My skin feels soft but too tight from the alcohol.
Kevyn Aucoin Contour Duo | Full size $25
Never have to choose between two products with this contour duo set from Kevyn Aucoin. The formulas glide on effortlessly for a natural-looking sculpted finish, providing minimal-to-full coverage when you need it.
IcanGWP Review: The highlighter is so subtle. Noting really shows. If you are looking for a big POP this is not a highlighter for you but if you are looking for a Burberry style natural glow, you would enjoy it. Good news, I love this Kevyn Aucoin contour shade. It’s stunning! I’ve tried a few palettes for shading and contour, and nothing looks surreal like this. It looks like real shadow on my cheeks and makes the cheek bones stand out. I don’t need the highlighter and can go “I woke up like this”. It doesn’t have any hint of orange in it. Truly matte. Use small shading brush and you will really see what I mean it can help to create your cheek bones!
Illamasqua Hydra Veil | Full size $45
Enriched with Microalgae and Vitamins C and B3, its clear gel formula infuses optimum hydration, whilst Plant Extracts calm and comfort skin to leave it fresh, rebalanced, healthy-looking. Deeply nourishes your complexion to create the perfect base for make-up application.
Prior to foundation application, use the spoon provided to apply one scoop to the palm of your hand. Using a foundation or highlighter brush, gently brush the product from your hand and apply all over the face, right up to the lash line until the product is absorbed.
IcanGWP Review: The sleekly designed package with a spatula and clear jelly texture make this Hydra Veil extremely luxe. However, it is such a controversial product. It was in the Ipsy summer 2019 and it was a blast. People either threw it away or loved it. Well, it depends how you use it and whether it’s for your skin. I would say that it’s better described as a water-based gel moisturizer. People expect “silicone” for makeup base to fill in the lines and this one won’t exactly fulfill that. The formula is more like a skincare product and is filled with several beneficial goodies. I like it as a lightweight gel but I don’t see it being very helpful as a primer. It contains a medium amount of alcohol so sensitive or dry skins wouldn’t enjoy that. I highly recommend to watch a short tutorial here. I love the glass skin finish.
Christophe Robin Cleansing Purifying Scrub with Sea Salt (Travel Size) | Full size $53
Harnessing the purifying powers of Sweet Almond Oil and Sea Salt (a natural exfoliant), the cleansing formula rebalances sensitive or oily scalps, leaving you feeling refreshed and restored for long-lasting comfort. Ideal for weekly use, or after coloring hair to soothe itching and tingling sensations.
IcanGWP Review: The jar contains a white paste with medium size salt grains. It smells fresh, light and wonderful like walking into a natural water lily field. I think it’s a unisex scent, and it doesn’t linger.
It’s a little bit cumbersome to emulsify the product. Once it produces soft lather and the salt turns to milky cream, ladies, to die for!! The scalp is cleaned deeply and feel pampered. My hair is SUPER STRAIGHT and glossy. I can see the end part where I applied drugstore conditioner is less silky. It looks so healthy and salon quality in one rinse! It can be a little bit dry for winter months.
Erno Laszlo Sea Mud Cleansing Bar | Full size $38
Ideal for blemished or stressed out skin, the moisturizing bar is infused with the therapeutic benefits of mineral-rich Dead Sea Mud and works into a rich, white foam that expertly detoxifies, exfoliates and hydrates, lifting away dirt and impurities to reveal clean, purified skin. Formulated with a host of powerful skincare actives, it contains moisture-binding Glycerin and Palm Kernel Oils that help to regulate skin’s own oil content while improving skin’s natural ability to defend against external aggressors. After use, expect a radiant, restored-looking canvas.
This is an awesome beauty box from SkinStore. I have discovered new products that I wouldn’t have known how amazing they are for my winter regimen. My skin is particularly quenched, plumped and brightened. My family is visiting and mentioned I must have done something to my skin. The secret is this Skinstore Evergreen Beauty Box. Definitely worth trying at this price.
I hope you enjoyed the review. Happy New Year Everyone!
