First impression Play! by Sephora May 2016 Beauty Box

I am excited! This is my first subscription box ever. From a million of boxes, I chose Play! by Sephora as my debut. Do you remember the first subscription box you ever received? I was like that!! This month theme is Forces of Nature – Earth to Beauty. It is beautiful.

The collectible makeup bag is cute. It is a good size drawstring bag. It will be nice to be used as a little bag for accessories or makeup. I think it made from cotton. What else do you use it for?

PLAY! BOOK is like a little magazine (where the card is on), fun to read. It is full of product information and inspiration.

Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche in Kimchi Review | Full size $26

IcanGWP: BEAUTIFUL! This is an opaque and creamy lipstick with matte/satin finish. Bite Beauty Lipsticks are always top notch quality. The formula is very moisturizing. The pigment is very intense and last very long. Shade Kimchi is very bright and bold. In the past, I have found my way to use a very challenging lipstick colors (e.g., very nude shades from Sephora Give Me Some Nude Lip or very bright shade from Space NK Cyber Monday Gift Bag). I will have so much fun to layer it with others.

FYI – I have heard that Bite Beauty changed the formula of some lipstick in fall 2015. This is obviously a decent upgrade especially in terms of hydration. Also, there is a great set of Bite beauty on sale: Bite Beauty Spring Fling Set $26 was $39 (a $52 value).

Tarte Tarteist Lip Crayon in Latergram Review | Full size $18

IcanGWP: It is a matte coral lip crayon. It is very small (like 0.6mm) thus fragile. The formula is quite dry. I tried it twice.

The first day is Tarte Tarteist Lip Crayon as a lip liner and Dior Addict Ultra-Gloss in 765 (Use code GLOSSADDICT for a free Dior Addict Ultra-Gloss deluxe sample in 765 – 0.06 oz with your $25 order).

First day result: lower lip was a disaster.

The second day is Tarte Tarteist Lip Crayon as a lip liner and Too Faced Melted Liquified Long-wear Lipstick (I received from Beauty Brands BB Love Sample Bag and it is still available here or see more in my post here).

The second day result: stayed really well.

I think that this product does a great job by itself but it cannot keep wet lip product in place. How do you play with it?

Origins Maskimizer Skin-Optimizing Mask Primer | Full size $22

IcanGWP: This is my favorite item! You can see the ingredient list on their site here. This is an AMAZING product. The list is short and full of goodies (slip agent/a penetration enhancer, stabilizer, UVA protection, Antioxidants and Emollients). No fragrance and no alcohol. Two thumps up! I am excited for this one. It’s a new concept that they are lending from spa. Our skin must be “prepped” before any spa treatment and that is the step that we have never done by ourselves at home. I spray it all over and avoid my eyes. It is really watery. I think that it helps at the beginning of the mask application a lot.

IcanGWP: This is a great surprise bonus to go with the mask primer.

Korres Wild Rose + Vitamin C Advanced Brightening Sleeping Facial Review | Full size $19 – $48

IcanGWP: Korres describes it as a dark spots corrector moisturizer for dry skin. I can explain its texture as half cream and half balm. It is very thick. This product is a fragrance cream/balm. Its scent is not a solo rose fragrance cream. It is more of a mix of rose, jasmine and patchouli. There are some vitamin C and alcohol in it.

IcanGWP: I haven’t tried this one yet.

Atelier Cologne Orange Sanguine Cologne Absolue Pure Perfume Review | Full size is $120

IcanGWP: It is a very unique orange note perfume. You won’t smell like orange. It was just a little citrus hint. Very light and playful. Good summer fragrance. I always like the postcard!

What is this little card? You can take your PLAY! PASS each month to your local Sephora for a free one-on-one tutorial that’s all about you with one of their beauty experts. You can also redeem your PLAY! PASS for 50 bonus Beauty Insider points with any in-store purchase during the same store visit. Just remember that each ticket may only be used once and expires after 30 days.

It expires next month (6/30). So for any product you purchase in store (no minimum), you will be granted with an extra 50 points. Barcode is on the back of the card.

To test it out, I went to the store and buy something small. I gave this card to the staff. She has no idea what is it. Then she consults her senior staff and it is scanned and accepted. It’s new to their staffs too! I received the regular point + 50 more points on my account (I checked 24 hours later).

What I thought?

I really enjoyed my first Play! By Sephora Beauty Box May 2016. I like that they send out a little bit of everything. Also, the good variation of brands they are offering us to try. And they are new release products! The overall worth of the box is approximately $35 plus 50 points. I would love to see matching lip liner and lipstick or one lip product and another makeup item. I will find out more ways to have fun with these item after my Play! Date. What is Play! Date? See below!
