Barneys Love Yourself Women’s Gift Bag Review

I normally have one makeup bag in the car and the previous Barneys Love Yourself bag is one of them. The shape and light color can help to find makeup in no time. Barneys cosmetics bag is always a good-looking bag and very luxe.

MDNA The Reinvention Cream Review | Full size $75

All-in-one formula that multitasks as a toner, a serum, a moisturizer and a mask.

IcanGWP Review: The blend of squalene, thermal water, ceramides, and resurrection plant stem cells is something different from mainstream cream in North Americas. I love the water-light gel cream texture and mild orange oil scent. Reminding me of cream originally from warm climates like Shiseido. It feels wonderful on the skin yet very light and non-greasy. They recommend using it with MDNA The Beauty Roller – oversized dual-sculpting carbon spheres: promote lymphatic drainage, optimal product penetration, and tension relief.

The MDNA packaging is incredibly chic. The multitasking is also nice. We can layer it on as thick as an overnight mask or dab it on lightly like a serum. It is quite wallet-friendly too. I can’t tell the long term results yet but so many people said it’s simply magic. FYI – there is quite a bit of alcohol. Frédéric Malle Carnal Flower Eau De Parfum (reviewed here) OR Frederic Malle Portrait Of A Lady Review (shown)| Full size $195 – $390

Frédéric Malle’s Portrait of a Lady eau de parfum is a floral Oriental fragrance infused with notes of benzoin, cinnamon, sandalwood, patchouli, musk, and frankincense. Formulated with a strong dosage of rose essence and patchouli heart, this fragrance is inspired by the sensuous beauty of a woman. Developed by Dominique Ropion.

IcanGWP Review: Frederic Malle Portrait of a Lady is very deep, warm and dark. It’s not feminine and it’s very confident and heroic. The top notes are dark rose and spice with a little blackcurrant – not fruity nor sweet and very intense. Then the modern oriental composition appears, very patchouli and rose. The notes that stay and is my favorite is sensual patchouli, rose and musk with incense in the background, almost like it’s smoky. I’m not surprised that he is among the top ten niche perfumers of the world.

Givenchy Volume Disturbia Mascara Review | Full size $27

Smooth, gliding texture that instantly creates a 93% increase in visible volume that lasts for 24 hours.

IcanGWP Review: If you love the Givenchy Phenomen ‘Eyes’ Mascara, then you should try this new mascara from Givenchy! The provocative red package with Givenchy logo is stunning. The wand is amazing. Their exclusive hollow silicone brush combs the lashes from base to tip.

I really want to use this wand on all other mascaras I have. Make sure you ‘soft’ curl you lash. Swipe it gently. Don’t wiggle it. It will make very natural looking thicker lashes that are so impressive. If you have 20 lashes, it will make 30 and they will be much longer. It brings out individual eye lashes that are hiding. Lashes are visibly curled, lengthened and fanned-out. It’s also infused with Vitamin E to strengthen our lashes. It has a mild distinctive perfume scent. Staying power is impressive – 8 hours in humid Seattle!

Rene Furterer Okara Color Mask Review | Full size $48

Delivering intense conditioning while preserving vibrancy, it helps to repair damaged hair as a result of dying and color processing.

IcanGWP Review: The ultra lightweight cream is lovely to touch. I love that it doesn’t have a heavy, silicone-y texture that pull my hair down when it’s dry. The light floral scent is heavenly. I fall for all Rene Furterer products’ scent. It’s very unique and feels luxe and exotic. Expect no simple drugstore scent, it’s very complex and could be your signature hair scent! My hair looks a little lighter in color and much thicker.

Lab to Beauty Green Cure mask Review | Full size $60

IcanGWP Review: I’ve tested a few newly launched CBD skincare and they did wonders. The anti-inflammatory strength is there.

It’s very rare to find clay masks that don’t have sulfur or its derivatives nor alcohol. You can see how lovely the formula is. The beautiful pale green oil-clay texture has a nice herbal and flowery aroma. It felt almost like oil and no clay when I’m spreading on the skin. I felt the heat for a few minutes. Then it dried down so wonderful. What I like about it most, is not the core CBD and hemp extract but is the texture. It’s NOT CHALKY. The beneficial oils are fully absorbed. It’s almost like I mixed mineral foundation with water and applied it to my skin with a slight tightness. My skin and complexion look great. It’s clear, soft to touch, glows and has no redness. If you have normal to oily skin, this is a new super green detox treatment that could really help to strengthen your skin, give it a try! Several reviewers use it as a spot treatment. IcanGWP Review: The product has two sides. It’s as big as Shiseido cotton pad. We start from the side with smooth soft dots – massage for 7 minutes. The clear liquid is odorless and surprisingly so refreshing. It’s designed well and made my skin soft and quenched in seconds. Then we use the soft serum side to finish it up. I think that it’s excellent for someone who likes to bypass toner, essence, treatment and serum. It’s quick and effective. My skin was plump and soft and ready for moisturizer. My makeup look so smooth as my skin is really happy from the 7 second morning spa massage! It’s well priced and an interesting product, it might be something you are looking for!

IcanGWP Review: Anything HOURGLASS gets my attention including this first translucent powder from Hourglass. It gets a five-star rating and had sold out at Barneys, Nordstrom or Sephora after it launched last year. This is a next generation setting powder and you will easily fall for it!

The packaging is modern and luxe. You can see the full size image with the sleek H gold sifter. There is no shimmer, sheen or scent in it. It creates a very skin-like finish. It disappears, just like your second skin. It’s not matte, flat nor dewy – more like a backlight radiance finish. This product is infused with diamond powder to create a light-refracting effect that doesn’t cause flashback when we are photographed.

It instantly blurs imperfections. I have combo skin and this product excels on both parts. It doesn’t cake or set into lines. It’s super long wear too. I used two Shu Uemura brushes to set it on the skin. But Hourglass has this Hourglass Veil Powder Brush for $64. It is custom designed to be used with the brand’s Veil Translucent Setting Powder. This double-ended tool features a smaller, tapered side perfectly shaped to set the under-eye area, while the large, rounded side is designed to be used for all-over application on the face.

I think that what makes people really like this product is that most powders make us look old and tired especially in the undereye area, but not this one. This is also very popular as an undereye baking must-have. Believe the hype. It’s amazing. I’ll purchase the full size. Barneys have this product: $20 travel size here.

IcanGWP Review: I received 19-69 Rainbow Bar EDP for women and men. 19-69 Rainbow Bar EDP is not heavy, girly or sexy. It’s more like a relaxed or easy to nose perfume. This luxe scent is a representation of peace and freedom and features notes of davana, bergamot, warwood, fresh bazil, artemisia, nutmeg, and vetiver. The top note is a grand spicy and pepery. In a few seconds it drops to fruity and sweet wine-like aroma. The base note that lasts is warm, sweet and woody. The silage however not quite long: like 3-4 hours.

Zitsticka Patch | Full size $29

This adhesive patch is powered by the brand’s signature micro-darts, which self-dissolve to dispense a blend of blemish-fighting ingredients.

Verdict

Barneys have introduced me to so many new awesome beauty products. It’s a pure joy unboxing it and smells divine right of the bag. I am even more surprised by how much I like the goodies in this bag. My fave is Hourglass powder and Federic Malle scent. Barneys saves me time, budget and effort to sample them. It’s so convenient to get a mini version to try or stick in my purse before we buy them. I thought all the samples were exciting and I will definitely buy a few of them in the future. While the buy-in is steep, there were enough items (30) to justify it.

I highly recommend this gift bag from the Barneys Love Yourself Event. You’ll have to wait until next year if you miss this one, xoxo, Katie.
